The FrameNode 3600
Series multiservice FRAD is specifically designed to cost-effectively
converge legacy and LAN branch networking on public, private
or hybrid frame relay networks.
Engineered for exceptional price/performance, the two
to four port 3600 Series platform integrates the
TyLink 56/64Kbps DSU/CSU and ISDN.
FEATURES AND OPTIONS
The FrameNode 3600 Series base unit includes two serial ports,
4MB DRAM, 2MB Flash RAM and expansion slots for optional
LAN and transmission interfaces. Flexible connectivity options
can be factory- or field-installed and include:
- 56/64Kbps DSU/CSU
- ISDN BRI-S/T Terminal Adapter
- Memory Expansion (up to 8 MB)
- 1 or 2 Port Universal Serial Expansion Cards
The award-winning FrameNode
software supports all essential elements for mission-critical
SNA and IP branch internetworking. These include: extensive
SNA and legacy protocol support; frame relay optimized
IP and IPX internetworking; powerful multiprotocol Quality
of Service (QoS), bandwidth allocation and burst management
capabilities; non-disruptive SNA session rerouting; automatic
dial backup; and industry-leading SNMP and NetView/390
management.
BENEFITS
The FrameNode 3600 Series platform is a complete
branch internetworking solution delivering exceptional
price/performance over multibox alternatives. Its powerful
connectivity and quality-of-service features converge SNA,
legacy, and IP/IPX branch applications across frame relay.
Extensive management tools allow proactive management to
ensure optimal network availability with minimal impact
to operational staff.
The Frame Relay Forum compliant approach to fragmentation
allows you to mix delay sensitive applications with data
on the same PVC. This provides real-time traffic support
that combined with the FrameNode’s award-winning
QoS capabilities reduces sensitivity to latency. This enables
you to add new services while reducing network complexity
and operating costs.
APPLICATIONS
Complete Frame Relay Access Solution for Business-Critical
Branch Networks:
The FrameNode 3600 is designed specifically
for cost-effective, business-critical branch internetworking
over frame relay networks. The award-winning FrameNode
converges a wide-array of embedded SNA, BSC and Polled
Async and IP/IPX client/server applications into a quality-of-service-assured
frame relay WAN connection. Extensive NetView/390 and
SNMP management features with exclusive Circuit
Management Enhanced Agent ensure maximum network availability.
Multiservice Frame Relay Access for Small and
Medium Branches:
The FrameNode 3600 Series’ attractive price and
integral DSU/CSU make it ideal for small or medium sites
requiring a few serial ports - such as branch bank, retail
outlets, or sales offices. Unlike most comparable FRADS,
the FrameNode 3600 does not sacrifice performance and
manageability for a low price.
Low-cost Frame Relay Router for
Remote LAN Connectivity:
Plug-and-play installation and frame relay optimized
IP/IPX routing make the FrameNode 3600 Series the perfect
solution for internetworking remote LAN sites to corporate
and intranet applications. Its unique IP Virtual
Route Switching technology offers simplified configurations,
efficient bandwidth utilization, and fast convergence
with campus backbones.
